TeenScreen's State Resource Center is designed to provide accessible and up-to-date information on key mental health and suicide statistics in each of the 50 states.

The State Resource Center provides each state’s youth suicide rate, background on key mental health issues and screening programs, and information on other critical topics, citing national research projects, federal reports, and state data. We are also pleased to provide information on state's suicide prevention programs, as well as key government officials from every state.

The information and data found in TeenScreen’s State Resource Center was compiled from a variety of sources, including the Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and other federal agencies; all of which provide in-depth information and statistics about youth mental illness and suicide in the United States.

For additional information about these federal agencies, please visit our Resource Links section.

In 2008, NAMI presented a comprehensive state-by-state analysis of mental health care systems. Every state has been scored on specific criteria resulting in an overall grade for the state.
