The TeenScreen National Center for Mental Health Checkups
is committed to preventing
youth suicide and disability through the early detection of mental
illness. The Center seeks to advance
policies and practices to expand early detection by making evidenced-based
mental health checkups a routine part of teen health care.
Mental health checkups have been endorsed by over 30 national health, family and advocacy organizations,
and the momentum for screening continues to grow. Several federal programs directly support local efforts and a
number of state programs have created unique partnerships to
support screening at the community level. The National Center
will work closely with these advocates in expanding access to teen mental
health checkups.
