Latest News One of the best ways to expand mental health checkups and educate people about them is to share information through the news media and other outgoing communications. The TeenScreen National Center for Mental Health Checkups publishes a monthly newsletter called Checkup e-news, maintains a blog and provides statements and press releases to the media.
Facts and Statistics More than one million teens in the United States suffer from depression, yet less than one-third of those teens receive help. For some, depression is so severe that it leads to suicide, the third-leading cause of adolescent death. Even in its less severe forms, teen depression is linked to poor academic achievement and school dropout, absenteeism, strained social relationships, and substance abuse.
