The TeenScreen National Center partners with a broad range of organizations and individuals to explore best practices and advance public policies.
Policy Partnerships
The TeenScreen National Center is one of the founding members of CheckUpNow, a coalition of leading mental health and family health organizations dedicated to the adoption of mental health checkups as a routine part of health care for teens. This partnership is working to educate federal and state governments on the importance of access to voluntary mental health checkups for all Americans between the ages of 11 and 24. The group’s work focuses on federal health care reform, screening as a key element in the proper implementation of mental health parity, the need to raise public awareness and increased funding for ongoing research. Members of CheckUpNow also include Active Minds; American Foundation for Suicide Prevention; Families USA; The Jed Foundation; Mental Health America; National Alliance on Mental Illness and The Suicide Prevention Action Network USA.
Primary Care Partnerships
The TeenScreen National Center works in collaboration with key players throughout the nation’s health care system to increase access to mental health checkups in primary care. This work focuses on care reimbursed by private and public sector insurance, delivered in individual and group practices, and primary care delivered in the nation’s emergency rooms. Some of the TeenScreen National Center partnership programs include a research component, and there is some funding available for investigator initiated studies.
